What is transcription & how is cost calculated?

Transcription is the process of converting audio recordings into text. To estimate the cost of any project it is best to use the industry standard or a 4 to 1 ratio, meaning that 1 hour of audio will take 4 hours to transcribe. However, this ratio can vary depending on formating requested, audio quality, number of recordings and number of speakers.

How are speakers indicated in the transcript?

Identifiers are used such as:

  • Gender (Male/Woman)
  • Name of speakers/interviewees
  • Or any other identifying system requested

Question identifers are:

  • Q only – designating that a question has been asked
  • Q and the entire question is transcribed
  • Q and a gist summary of the question is transcribed

Verbatim – Everything said as it is said. Nothing is omitted including utterances such as um’s, uh’s, etc., partial words and stutters.
Smart Copy – Grammar is corrected, um’s, uh’s, etc., partial words, and stutters are omitted.
Blending of Verbatim & Smart Copy – Grammar is not corrected, ONLY um’s, uh’s, etc., partial words and stutters are omitted.

Do you offer live recording?

We have two options for live recording:

Option 1 is our phone in dictation service which can be set up for conference calling.

Option 2 is limited to a 20-mile radius from Everett, WA where an associate will arrive on site and record the meeting with a digital recorder and microphones.

How will I receive my finished transcript?

ou will receive a digital Word do customized per your request for formatting and style. All complete transcripts have gone through double proofing system and are delivered via email.

How do I pay for your services?

All projects require a deposit of 50% of quoted price with balance due upon delivery. Accepted forms of payment are all major credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal see Pay Now button at the bottom of this page.

Are discounts available?

We offer a 10% discount for returning or referred clients. To receive an additional 10% off of your total cost, send us the link showing your review of our services on Yelp, Google Maps or Facebook.
